We maintain the newest and most complete fleet of rental canoes and kayaks in the Adirondacks, with boats for every level of paddler and every type of trip. We also offer shuttle services to many of the Adirondack’s most beautiful waters, and can also assist you in planning a trip on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and may other spectacular waterways.

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company invites you to explore our wonderful Adirondack wilderness with a canoe or kayak trip on the beautiful North Branch of the Moose River. Enjoy the splendid scenery as you paddle along with the gently moving water. We’ve worked out all of the details, so all you have to do is enjoy your trip! We’ll shuttle you to the start point and you end up back at our store. With two different day trips to choose from, there’s plenty to see.
Lessons and Guided Trips
We have teamed up with Anne Brewer of Placid Waters Kayaking to offer Kayaking and Stand Up Paddling classes, as well as Guided Kayaking Trips. Anne is an ACA Certified Instructor and will work with you in a small group setting. She’ll teach you how to properly use your boat, paddle, PFD, and other safety equipment. Enhance your skills with paddling techniques that take you to the next level. You made an investment in the equipment; now learn to make the most of what you bought!

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company is ready to help you explore the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. You can begin your trip right here on our dock on the Moose River in Old Forge, New York. We have canoes to rent, guide books and maps to help you plan your trip and provide shuttle service to every location from our shop for all sections of the trail in the state of New York. So whatever you need to help plan and implement your trip on this national treasure we are here to help.

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you have to stop paddling!
Fall is a great time of year to enjoy a day on the Moose River. We’ll be renting canoes and kayaks, and running Moose river trips until the water freezes, so come on out and enjoy the the river before winter arrives.
