2008 Airondack Paddlefest Test Paddle & Beach Rules
So that everyone may have a chance to try the canoes/kayaks in a fair and safe manner, please observe the following:
- Check with sales representative before using any canoe, kayak, paddle, life jacket, or other equipment.
- Wear a life jacket (PFD) whenever you are in a boat. (PFD and paddles are provided.)
- Return the canoe/kayak, all paddles, and life jackets to the appropriate exhibit space after your test paddle.
- Be sure you understand how the equipment works before launching (i.e. foot brace). Ask a sales rep or staff member for some basic stroke instruction before you launch if you need it.
- Stay close to shore (within 50 yards) and within sight of the exhibitor whose boat you are using. Please stay near the paddling area and do not paddle outside the marker buoys or boundary lines.
- Obey instructions of the safety boat.
- Limit your trial to 5-10 minutes per boat model so others may try the canoes and kayaks that we have today.
- Thanks for keeping our gear clean, and please respect the event area and keep it clean...
- Test paddle sessions end one hour before the scheduled closing time for the festival.
- If you bring your own paddle or PFD, have it tagged at the Information Tent when you sign up for the test paddle.
- Kids under 12 must be accompanied by adults during a test paddle.
- Test paddle fee is $15, which is good for the entire weekend, begining at noon on Friday.
- A special test paddle for high-end composite boats will be held Friday morning. It is $20 and include test paddling for the entire weekend.
